Library and Information Resources

There is no librarian in charge of Japanese resources and staff of the CJSC assist in the cataloguing of Japanese-language materials. The main Japan-related collection is now held by the Aberconway Library, in the same building where the CJSC is located. It has about 2,500 Japan-related books in English and about 400 in Japanese. The Library subscribes to several Japan-related journals in English and in Japanese. CJSC also subscribes to the Nikkei database. The average annual expenditure on Japan-related resources since 1993 has been about £3,000 per year for books and journals. The resources are catalogued on an in-house computerised system called ¡ÆVoyager'. Cardiff makes use of the Inter-Library loan system.
